🌱 🌻 Console Patch Notes: v1.0.1.0 🌻🌱
Nintendo Switch
- We've made some changes to improve saving stability, so that your save files are tucked away safe and sound like a well-packed picnic basket.
- It seemed that the spinach seeds weren't too fond of being planted. We've coaxed them back, so they're ready to sprout when the time is right.
- A number of Hobbits wrote in with matters of grave concern, becoming blocked from playing after the game began to stutter, then crashed altogether. Not the sort of thing we take lightly in Bywater.
- The volume in handheld mode has been gently lifted, no need to strain your ears wherever you go.
- Good news for Hobbits with an ear for a good song: music now resumes properly after a new day begins.
- Some Hobbits were getting stuck inside their floors after rearranging their bedroom furniture. Worry not, Hobbits can now tidy their room without any unexpected adventures.
- The fishing line tension indicator (quite the mouthful) now visually reacts to said tension, just as it should.
- The Old East Road was always a fine, well-worn path, but we've given it a fresh brushing up with improved terrain textures.
- No more interruptions from poorly mannered streaming delays during shared meals.
- Hobbits found they could clip through a slope beside a river near Delphinium's Tree. Nobody has a want for passing through the earth itself.
- Before an event as full of good food and good cheer as the Bywater Festival, one really just wants to have a good, long nap. Unfortunately, some Hobbits simply found themselves unable to settle in for a pre-festival slumber.
- Some rooms remained stubbornly locked, even after reaching a Level 10 relationship with Willow. Hobbits had knocked and nudged, to no avail.
- A bug was causing Nora and Fosco to not show up to a shared meal. They're most apologetic, though it's no fault of their own.
- Orlo was missing some focus target highlighting, though he didn't seem to notice.
- Fishing is not the relaxing pastime it's meant to be when your game freezes the first time you reach for your rod. We've untangled this issue, so you can get back to catching supper.
PlayStation 5
- Emote animations now cancel properly when moving, preventing Hobbits from sliding across the world, which was quite unbecoming.
- Those helpful trash and tooltip icons now behave just right when one's backpack or pantry is empty.
- The lighting in Bywater has stopped flickering between seasonal tones, thank goodness.
- The columned archway is a fine addition to any Hobbit home, especially when it no longer causes some curious pink textures.
- A microfreeze certainly isn't helpful when all you want to do is move groups of fine things between your backpack, a most useful storage solution, and your pantry, the pride of one's home and also a most useful storage solution.
- A full stop was missing at the end of the Autosave warning message... the kind of place one really should have one.
- Fighting — not the physical kind, but the graphical kind — could be seen outside the front of the Burrowses’ shop, much to their concern.
- Some Hobbits' homes displayed LOD pop (likely a wizard's curious term) near the end of the Bywater Festival.
- We called on Fosco's expertise to stitch up a small wardrobe mishap that appeared when using the frying pan.
- Farmer Cotton's hand was suffering from a strange graphical issue whilst discussing the Green Dragon. His limb now aligns with the laws of nature. Good news for everyone involved, but especially for Farmer Cotton.
- Hobbits found walking on the hill next to the Village Square entrance something of a trudge. Frame rates had dipped below 20, turning even the sprightliest of steps into a plod.
Xbox Series X|S
- Emote animations now cancel properly when moving, preventing Hobbits from sliding across the world, which was quite unbecoming.
- Those helpful trash and tooltip icons now behave just right when one's backpack or pantry is empty.
- Tooltips no longer linger on screen after the last item is tossed, gently, in the rubbish.
- A few unsightly seams were stitched back together on the hillside near Delphinium's and Willow's homes.
- The lighting in Bywater has stopped flickering between seasonal tones, thank goodness.
- Some vegetation was sorely missing in the square-shaped area of one's garden.
- You'll certainly usually find something in the forest, if you look. Some Hobbits spotted a mysterious orange light atop Delphinium's Tree.
- Orange light could be seen outside of the fourth nook in one's Hobbit home, and it wasn't the warm flicker of a newly kindled fire.
- Beams of coloured light spilled into Hobbits' bedrooms at night, not the sort of thing one wants when you're settling down after a quiet day of fishing and gardening.
- Some Hobbits found their time in The Shire abruptly cut short when their game crashed, happening when it was least needed and least expected.
- The UI flow was doing things altogether unexpected, remaining active even after the backpack was emptied.
- Some Hobbits found that their screen turned black when it became evening, nary a star in sight.
Cross-console (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S)
- A Hobbit home is all about comfort, and it's certainly not comforting finding yourself underneath those nicely tiled floors of yours. You can rest easy knowing you'll wake up safe and sound inside your home.
- Sandyman's Level 10 rewards are now behaving properly, though some Hobbits might still encounter issues with his UI. Rest assured, we're working on a fix for that problem.
- Orlo has a kind heart — one that'll always welcome you to Bywater, even if you stop and reload the game immediately after you customise your Hobbit.
- Orlo was spotted donning his Postman gloves before his Big Moment. You could call it an error... or destiny, perhaps.
- Now, a wardrobe and a pantry are two very different sorts of storage. One holds waistcoats and woollens, the other holds pickles and produce. Yet there seemed to be a strange occurrence that befell some homes, where if a Hobbit opened their wardrobe from the outside during a tale, cooking progress would halt altogether.
- Cooking with a full pantry no longer causes a softlock when preparing those splendid jam recipes. A relief, truly; breakfast preparations can now proceed uninterrupted.
- As his tale unfolds, master angler Old Noakes will remain where he's most content: perched by (or in!) a body of water.
- There was a small translation hiccup in Old Noakes' Spanish dialogue.
- We might not know what kind of fish the Dunno is, but we do know that it shouldn't remain on a shopkeeper's counter when you're no longer hovering over it.
- Moving bits and bobs between your backpack and your pantry is now even smoother.
- A good Hobbit name is like a good meal: unforgettable. Our UI will now remember your custom name should you return to character customisation.
- We tidied up a strikethrough on subtasks in the lore book.
- Controller vibrations have been softened across all consoles, much more suitable for a Hobbit's pace and no more fear of those teacups shaking off the table.
- Hobbits might enjoy a nice cosy nook, but it's not all that cosy when a camera clips through your head in tight spaces.
- Your lovingly tooled furniture can now be moved across your kitchen counter.
- We've done some spring cleaning all around Bywater, including minor (but no less important) bug fixes across a multitude of areas, all to make your time steadier, prettier and more pleasant.
- Some items unlocked in the Collections categories did not always match their trackers in the Encyclopaedia.
- Culling (what exactly that means, few Hobbits can say) was spotted during a side tale.
- Culling (that curious word again) could be seen after fishing on the opposite shore of the dock at Old Ruby's Pond, always a nice spot to stop and throw a line.
- Culling (there's that odd little word again) could be seen when moving the camera behind The Old Hall.
- Hazelnuts on the ground were smaller than on the trees, a most peculiar nut development.
- The snow is beautiful here, but a bit of a nuisance when it's inside your home. Rest assured, you won't see any more flakes falling above your furniture.
- Locked neighbours were displayed after unlocking particular ingredients in the Preference section of the Encyclopaedia. Truth be told, they were never truly locked; only waiting for their friendships to take root and grow.
- While in Decoration Mode, some Hobbits found themselves stuck at a closed, uncooperative door in the first expansion.
- Some items within the Decoration Menu were missing some fairly important highlights in Decoration Mode.
- The specific combination of opening the Storage Menu during Decoration Mode while in a secondary venue was causing a muddle.
- One shouldn't come across a floating dirt artifact when entering Decoration Mode, not in these parts.
- Young Tom Cotton's belt, fine though it is, seemed to remain perfectly still while talking to him.
- In several main tales, golden sparkles have been showing up as blue. It's an odd little mix-up, but rather pretty all the same.
- The sky and every fluffy cloud in it looked baby blue and white in the evening.
- In Bywater, each new days brings new wonders. It now also brings a smoother time change as dawn becomes morning.
- Some of the Antique Craftsman's furniture had a way of looking a touch different when placed in one's home.
- Some unseemly gaps appeared beneath the white fence in some Hobbits' home garden.
- While in Photo Mode, the last selected Emote in the Emote Wheel oddly remained highlighted when closing and reopening it.
- The name of the first Emote, though properly assigned, didn't appear when opening the Emote Wheel.
- The Selected Emote green arrow was lingering a little too long after the Emote Wheel was empty.
- After enjoying a delicious meal together, some townsfolk found themselves trapped in unlocked areas of one's home. Keeping guests stuck in odd corners isn't what any well-mannered Hobbit would call good hosting.
- Some forageables had a low-resolution outline when approaching them.
- You may have noticed that some neighbours' notification globes cast rather long stretches when seen through a clear window.
- A few buttons and images looked to be low resolution.
- Two commas, those temperamental things, were missing in the first cooking tutorial.
- East of The Green Dragon, a smial's rooftop wasn't appearing as it ought.
- Certain stone structures and arches looked a fair bit darker than they do on PC.
- Some overly eager ingredients had a habit of staying behind on the chopping board while the next one was being prepared.
- An extra space was present on Farmer Cotton's disgruntled RVSP letter. He may have written it in frustration, but Farmer Cotton is usually a stickler about spacing.
- South of Cotton Farm, we've weeded and pruned to mend some flickering issues.
- Sometimes Delphinium's lovely eyelashes failed to appear.
- The camera would sometimes clip with Lily Cotton's face, which even the most patient of Hobbits would simply detest.
- The rock wall at the Three-Farthing Stone, usually entirely solid and quite unyielding, could be clipped through by a camera.
- We spruced up the entrance of the Three-Farthing Stone.
- Those helpful crossed-out subtasks appeared a touch thinner here than on PC. We suspect a quill may have been short on ink.
- At a crucial point in the story, two items were found upon the ground when only one should have been present.
- An unusual gap in the forest allowed some Hobbits to see right under this corner of the Middle-earth, as if a part of the land had given way.
- We've tidied up some terrain near the waterfall at the east of Tree Root Fishing Spot, one of our favourite places in the whole of Westfarthing.
- The gently informative 'Just to let you know...' letter was written in plural in Spanish.
- Some Hobbits strolled clean through a tree at Willow's Workshop, as if it were made of mist.
- Hobson Hornblower was unwittingly lingering a bit too long outside Willow's shop.
- The camera, in a moment of mischief, clipped through a rock in front one's home.
- The camera frames the Burrowses' shop for just a moment at the end of a tale. Even though it shouldn't, what a charming sight it is.
- Some decorative items aren't quite suited to the kitchen.
- There's nothing like the feeling of a job well done, almost like eating some well-roasted potatoes. The trouble is when those accomplishments are not crossed out, like they never happened.
- We spruced up some graphics around Orlo's home.
- A few things in Orlo's well-tended garden were fixed right up.
- A few inconsistent quotation marks couldn't make up their minds on a loading screen. We've popped them where they belong.
- Evening strolls by the bridge are peaceful once more, thanks to tree shadows no longer flitting about.
- Several townsfolk experienced a brief delay when loading during cutscenes. Not long enough for a cup of tea, but long enough to notice.
- The Large Circular Wood was slightly misaligned in a window near the chicken trough.
- The stone wall at Ladle's Jetty, named after Bywater's most beloved and well-dressed duck, has had some tending.
- We've given a few things around the Village Square a good going-over with a brush and some polish.
- For those who appreciate tidy lines, it's been a bother getting one's home to feel just right when the floor patterns face different directions in the halls between rooms.
- The old broken tower next to The Stone Bridge had a spot of shadow LOD pop-up.
- When feeling weary, some Hobbits found their hands clipped right into each during a shared meal, enough to make one feel all the more weary!
- The camera seemed to have up and got with a mind of its own when placed at certain angles.
- Uninvited low-quality texture showed itself during an enjoyable discussion with Farmer Cotton.
- The frame's corners were displayed before the shrinks, which is just a fancy way of saying things weren't going as they should.
- Even after a friendly conversation was finished with a polite tap of the Goodbye button, previous dialogue options lingered like an uninvited guest.
- Large squares of groundcover had gone missing around some Hobbits.
- A few typos were found in the description for radishes in the Encyclopaedia, of all places!
- Moving nice, delicious things from one's pantry to one's backpack made them vanish.
- Null exceptions occurred when Hobbits selected four specific, rather charming wall assets.
- A strange cube was causing a bit of a stir in The Shire.
- Certain patches of land seemed to be missing proper grass detail, an unusual sight in the countryside.
- A softlock was triggered by cooking while having one's backpack and pantry completely filled. Not enjoyable, when you care for such things.
- A grove of white trees behind Delphinium's home were suffering from an unfortunate issue with their LODs.
- Andy and Luisa were missing from the game's credits, which was terribly rude.
- A few hungry guests showed some texture streaming while starting a shared meal.
- The terrain and the grass had some mismatched colours. That's not how things usually go in these parts.
- A Cooking Club mission had some incompletable instructions, like trying to follow a recipe written by a distracted Took.
- Controller prompts, perhaps out of forgetfulness, had a habit of repeating themselves when Hobbits held a tool and struck up a conversation.
- Bushes could be seen while decorating... not that one doesn't appreciate some nice foliage.
- We've done some tidying of the Platform branch, fixing up some hair masking and restoring those clever keyword changes to reduce memory.
- Some Hobbits could move their camera inside themselves or any NPC to show the inside of their heads. A bit horrifying, really.
- Selecting some ingredients duplicated them on the cooking table. It may sound blasphemous, but sometimes a Hobbit just wants the right amount of rhubarb for their pie. No more, no less.
- A handful of vegetables you were cooking continued to undulate as though they were in a gentle breeze, which was unsettling.
- The Dwarven Mended Mixing Bowl seemed to be lingering at Nefi's Forge. We don't blame it, though. There's not a soul in The Shire who doesn't think kindly of Nefi.
- Best to be inside when choosing some stylish attire. You can no longer open your wardrobe from outside of your home.
- Even The Shire welcomes a little rain — it makes things bloom, after all! Rainy days are forecast to return between years 3 and 5.
- At the Green Dragon, the camera was poking its nose where it shouldn't, slipping through walls near the dining table.
- Daisy Took was looking not like herself, all because of a few missing particles.
- We've had our tools out for some helpful shelf placement fixes.
